Tustin pitchers record no-hitter; Cypress, Trabuco Hills, Villa Park and Servite also win

TUSTIN 5, CREAN LUTHERAN 0: Tustin pitchers Riley Kelly and Miles White combined on a no-hitter in the Empire League game at Tustin Wednesday, according to first-year Tillers Coach Ben Owens. Kelly threw the first six innings and White the seventh inning.

Kelly had 14 strikeouts and walked two while White walked one and struck out one.

It was the first no-hitter since 2020 when Jeremy Haugh and Parker Cadacio teamed up for a no-hitter against Valencia, Owens added.

Second place Tustin (16-7, 5-2) was led offensively by Abel Castrejon, who had a double and a home run, scoring two runs and driving in one. Kelly also had three hits and three RBI and Daniel Benally had a double and an RBI.

CYPRESS 4, PACIFICA 3: The Centurions, who lead the Empire League, had a walk-off win Wednesday in an Empire League game.

Cypress (20-3-2, 7-2) was led by lefthander Zack O’Campo, who pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings to improve his record to 8-0.

Gabe Cobian was 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBI, including the game-winning sacrifice fly. Abbrie Covarrrubias was 2 for 3 with a run scored and a walk.

TRABUCO HILLS 4, SAN CLEMENTE 2: Tyler Byrns, who pitched seven innings, got the win, striking out six and allowing one earned run. Tyler Collins was 2 for 3, Nick Perez was 1 for 2 with a single, Bobby Gray was 1 for 4 with three RBI and a home run, Joey Gray was 1 for 3 with a double and Will Burns was 1 for with an RBI to lead the Mustangs (18-5, 7-1).

VILLA PARK 7, HUNTINGTON BEACH 2: The Spartans (22-2) got a win at the Boras Classic Wednesday to move into the semifinals Thursday. AJ Kroedel (7-0) got the win, going the distance, allowing two runs and eight hits and striking out four. Gavin Grahovac was 2 for 4 with two runs scored, a grand slam, a double and four RBI. Geoff MacArthur was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, Gavin Rossi was 1 for 2 with a home run and an RBI and Britton Beeson was 2 for 2 with a run scored.

SERVITE 4, YUCAIPA 1: The Friars (13-9) got a victory at the Boras Classic. Mikiah Negrete pitched a complete game allowing six hits and one run and struck out eight. Trevor Schmidt had a two-run home run and Agustin Gutierrez had two hits.

CORONA DEL MAR 13, LAGUNA BEACH 2: The Sea Kings captured the Sunset Wave League title with a victory at Laguna Beach. Click here for story and photo:
