Fullerton College’s men’s basketball team, the No. 1 seed in the Southern California Regional, opened the tournament Saturday with a 68-59 playoff win over Alan Hancock.

Sophomore Lance Coleman II, the Orange Empire Conference Co-Player of the year, scored 23 points.
Fullerton is coached by former Cal State Fullerton player Perry Webster, who is 94-26 in four seasons at Fullerton College and trying to get the Hornets to the State Elite Eight for the fourth time in four seasons. The state tournament is March 7-10 in Ventura.
Fullerton College is 26-3 and plays the seventh seed L.A. Southwestern (24-4) next Saturday at 7 at Fullerton College.
