Third-seeded Crean Lutheran advances; Portola loses in second round

Third seeded Crean Lutheran’s girls basketball team moved on to the quarterfinal round of the CIF 3AA playoffs, defeating Covina 70-52 Saturday night in Covina.

Coach Bianca Ziemann’s Saints (25-4) play Wednesday night at 7 at home vs. Laguna Hills.

Taylor Feldman scored 25 points, had five rebounds, seven assists and four steals; Trinity Cha had 18 points and made six 3-pointers and Hailee Daniel scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Crean Lutheran.

Laguna Hills (19-8) advanced to the quarterfinals with a 48-47 victory over El Seguno Saturday.

Xavier Prep 48, Portola 41: Allyson Tabayoyong had 31 points to lead Portola (18-9) in the second round of the CIF 4AA playoffs.
