University (8-12, 3-2) was led by  Arvan Gill who scored 25 points and made seven 3-pointers and Kody Uyesugui scored 13 points and hit three 3-pointers.

Beckman (12-11, 4-1) was led by Ethan Bozzo, who had 15 points and 14 rebounds, Dowon Kim, who had 14 points and David Manea, who had 13 points and 12 rebounds.

‘We could not put the ball in at basket for some reason tonight,” said Beckman Coach John Goins. ” I am guessing we shot less than 40 percent in the paint tonight, maybe even less than 30 percent.

“We got the shots we wanted in offense but just didn’t put it in. University made the most of our struggles, taking advantage of it by hitting 15 3’s. They hit six 3’s in the fourth quarter, taking the wind out of us each time we started to get something going. We had a chance to tie it with five seconds left, but I feel I let the boys down by not giving them a good opportunity to score at the end. Overall a tough night for the Patriots and a hard fought win for the Trojans. Congrats to them.”

Newport Harbor 56, Los Alamitos 55: The Sailors (20-4 and 2-0) beat Los Alamitos in a Surf league game. Levi Darrow (15 points) hit a 3-pointer with four seconds left for the win.
