Sonora Coach Mike Murphy gets 700th career win; El Dorado’s Cooper Bladow scores 45 points

San Juan Hills, Foothill, Trabuco Hills, Pacifica Christian, Edison, Calvary Chapel also capture victories.

SONORA 53, COLONY 52: The Raiders Coach Mike Murphy earned his 700th career victory during a consolation round of the Sonora Tournament Saturday. Yoda Oke scored 17 ooints and Ricky Esparza and Ernest Love each had 10 points to lead Sonora.

A note on Twitter from the athletic department said: “Congratulations to Mike Murphy on his amazing achievement of 700 wins. He has given so much of himself to the students, families and community at Sonora High School. We are proud of you.”

EL DORADO 73, LONG BEACH MILLIKAN 71: The Golden Hawks (5-5) took third place in the Gary Raya Classic with a victory Saturday. Cooper Bladow had 45 points and four 3-pointers and earned all-tourney honors. The 45 points was not far away from the El Dorado school record of 53 points that was set in 1989 by Brett Tomko, according to Coach Ryan Mounce. Logan Mounce, the son of the coach, had 13 points and four 3-pointers and Ethan Chi had nine points to lead El Dorado.

FOOTHILL 54, NEWPORT HARBOR 50: The Knights (8-1) won a consolation round game at the Beach Bash Tournament. Travis Paleo had 24 points and was named to the all-tournament team. Isaiah Bernard had 13 points, seven rebounds and two blocks for Foothill.

TRABUCO HILLS 63, CAPO VALLEY CHRISTIAN 50: The Mustangs were led by Matt Mowers with 23 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists; Jack Warnick with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists and Lincoln Lantz with seven rebounds, eight assists and two points.

Trabuco Hills (7-5) plays at Irvine Monday night.

SAN JUAN HILLS 57, EL TORO 52: The Stallions won the final game at the San Juan Invitational Saturday night. San Juan Hills was led by Nathan Brosch with 16 points, who was named all-tournament. Mason Hodges had 12 points and Rylan Kies and Luke Padilla had 10 points each. It was coach Jason Efstathiou’s 100th career win.

PACIFICA CHRISTIAN 69, LOS ALAMITOS 56: The Tritons took the third place game at the Beach Bash Tournament Saturday night. Salim Semaan had 20 points, Parker Strauss 15 points, five rebounds and five assists, Tanner Deal 11 points and Jeffrey Bohlinger 10 assists to lead Pacifica Christian.

EDISON 58, PORTOLA 56: The Chargers (6-4) were led by Dane Johnson with 15 points, Dylan Hugues with 12 points and Jayden Oei with 12 points in the consolation round game of the Beach Bash Tournament Saturday. Portola (8-5) was led by Devin Daniel with 15 points and Colin Huang with 14 points.

LAKEWOOD 58, CYPRESS 57: Cypress lost a tough one Saturday at the Sonora Classic. The Centurions were up by two points late in the game before Lakewood hit a 3-pointer to go up by one point and the victory.

Jonah Kim had 17 points and Mickey Kadowaki 11 points to lead Cypress.

Cypress travels to Canyon on Wednesday to take on the top-ranked team in the county, according to Coach Derek Mitchell.

RANCHO VERDE 83, CREAN LUTHERAN 78: Rancho Verde won a consolation round game at the Beach Bash Tournament Saturday. Crean Lutheran was led by Kenneth Bailey with 27 points, six assists and Kaiden Bailey, who had 19 points and five assists. Braeden Davidson had 11 points and Evan Yang 19 points for the Saints (4-3).

CALVARY CHAPEL 72, CHURCHIE (AUSTRALIA) 71 (OT): The Eagles wrapped up the Beach Bash Tournament with a win. Calvary Chapel also won on Friday, defeating Churchie B, 63-43.
