Segerstrom’s softball team opened the CIF playoffs defeating Harvard Westlake 5-2 in a Division 4 wild game Tuesday at Segerstrom.
Starting pitcher Rebeca Cabeza led the way allowing two runs and five hits and recording five strikeouts to improve her record to 6-1. She also contributed offensively, going 2 for 3, scored a run and had three RBI.
“The Lady Jags turned two double plays and played well defensively,” said Segerstrom Coach Yvonne Alonzo.
Bella Martinez also went 2 for 3 at the plate and senior Alexandra Molina reached base two times and scored two runs for Segerstrom, the No. 2 team from the Golden West League.
Segerstrom (17-9) moves on to an opening round game on Thursday at El Segundo.
