MEN’S SOCCER TEAM CAPTURES OPENER
Santa Ana College’s men’s soccer team opened the season with a 2-0 victory over the East Los Angeles College on Friday afternoon.Â
The Dons were dominant all match as they possessed the ball throughout and held a significant advantage in shot attempts at 20-2.
Daniel Tolmasoff put Santa Ana on the board in the first half when he headed a ball in off a corner kick in the 15 minute mark. The assist was credited to Josue Martinez.
In the 76th minute, the Dons’ Jordan Bueno  put the game away with an easy goal on a setup by Vincent Gomez.
On Tuesday, SAC earned a 2-2 tie against Cuyamaca. Elijah Lozano and Isaac Pineda had the goals for Santa Ana College.
FOOTBALL TEAM OPENS SEASON SATURDAY
Santa Ana College’s football team opens the 2022 season with the 99th Key to the County game against the Fullerton Hornets on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m.
The rivalry continues after the Dons were forced to forfeit the game last season due to COVID-19 protocol.Â
SAC returns to action following one of their best seasons in recent history. The Dons finished 7-4 overall but went undefeated at 6-0 in the American Metro League to capture their first league championship since 2017 while clinching a Southern California Bowl berth.Â
The Dons broke several school records throughout the season and received notable awards Ceasar Ayala was named the AML Offensive Player of the Year and Head Coach Anthony White was the AML Coach of the Year in his first season.
Santa Ana will be bringing back some key players including Ayala and his top target last season Arthur Shaw.Â

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM WINS IN FIRST MATCH
The Dons women’s volleyball team opened the season with a 25-11, 25-20, 25-27, 25-21 victory over Southwestern last week.
SAC was led by their new transfer Matilde Teixeira, who had 18 kills in her first match with the Dons. The sophomore from Portugal added 20 digs, three assists and a couple aces.
Fellow sophomore transfer Alison Caswell had 17 kills and Kassandra Zavala had 11 kills and six blocks.Â
Sophomore setter Kaiden Raif had 36 assists and 10 digs and freshman libero Jaleen Lujan recorded 22 digs.
