Rancho Alamitos knocks off top seeded Los Amigos in opening round of CIF playoffs

Rancho Alamitos High School’s baseball team upset top seeded Los Amigos 7-5 in the opening round of the CIF Division 8 playoffs Thursday afternoon.

The Vaqueros (12-11) were led by Henry Garcia, who pitched five innings and went 4 for 4 at the plate with two doubles and a home run.

Ethan Shepherd, Aidan Martinez, Andrew Ballesta and Jacob Neri also had multiple hits for Rancho Alamitos, which hosts Edgewood in the second round Tuesday.

Los Amigos finished the season 17-6.
