Tesoro led 25-19 after one quarter and 44-33 at halftime.
The tournament started out with 16 teams but two teams dropped out due to COVID protocol.
“I’m just grateful we got to play,” said Tesoro Coach Steve Garrett. “That’s the best thing is that we got to play. Is league going to start next week? We hope.
“I’m grateful we got to play good teams that challenged us. Tustin was great for us to play, they make you earn your baskets. I thought Chaparral was really good for us to play with their style of defense. My goal was to develop my team our overall team this week and I got to do that. They’re all 10th and 11th graders.”
Garrett described his team’s defense as “awful” in the first half.
“We had a nice halftime talk, and I thought our lone senior Isaiah Viajar was the kid that turned it around for us,” Garrett said. “He started picking up fullcourt, he was loud, he was talking and diving on loose balls.”
Millikan (6-11) was led by Andrew Argros, who scored 16 points and Donavan Desha, who scored 14 points.
