Segerstrom’s boys basketball team evened its Golden West League record with a 69-55 victory over Garden Grove Friday night at Garden Grove.
The Jaguars (5-13, 1-1) were led by Heber Quero, who had 22 points in three quarters of play. Gilbert Vargas added 14 points for Segerstrom.

“We played very hard tonight and got out to an early lead in the game and fought hard to keep it,” said Segerstrom Coach Eddie Andrade. “Garden Grove is very young and well coached and they played extremely hard.
“We had great moments from Heber and Gilly (Vargas) in the third. Our bigs Jerell (Guidry), Esteban (Covarubbias), Ignacio (Melchor) and Christopher (Arteaga) rebounded very well for us.”
Garden Grove dropped to 8-12 overall and 0-2 in league play.
