Tate Zimmerman also had a big night on both offense and defense, according to Coach Tom Ricci.

“He had a sack, maybe two and led in tackles,” Ricci said. “He caught a two-point conversion and he kicked all of our extra points and drop kicked one. He caught a touchdown pass, he was everywhere, he was absolutely everywhere.”

Ricci was proud of the defense which continues to be rugged on opposing teams.

“Our defense is just solid,” Ricci said. “They play tough and they play with a chip on their shoulder. Our run defense is staunch, but we fly around the field. It’s fun to watch, I’m a fan. I love watching them play. Our guys try to get as many bodies around the ball every single play and it’s fun to watch.”

Nathan Sasaki also had a big game on defensefor Irvine recording an interception.

“He did a great job, he’s been very solid for us, he does a great job at corner, he’s kind of like this unsung kid at corner,” Ricci said. “He shuts guys down.”

Nick Rudolph also had a strong game on defense, Ricci said.

Woodbridge fell to 1-6 overall.
