El Modena High School’s football team celebrated homecoming Friday night in the rain with a 36-0 non-league victory over Segerstrom.
“Great team win,” said El Modena Coach Matt Mitchell on Saturday. “Overall team effort was great.”
Quarterback Xzavior Guess led the Vanguards (3-0) with four touchdown passes.

Troy Parker had two touchdown catches and Ryan Holzgang had a rushing touchdown, Mitchell said.
“Mayson Hitchens and Owen Smith led the defense; defensive line played well,” Mitchell said.
El Modena plays at La Habra Friday night.
Coach Joseph Tagaloa’s Segerstrom team (1-3) hosts Kaiser Friday night.
