“They are so long, Nate (Coach Klitzing) has constructed a team that will do well in the open division,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell. “You see their length on film and try to prepare your guys, but when you get out there, it’s not the same.”
Cypress (9-10, 1-1) was led by Dylan Higa, who scored 16 points and Kason White and Mickey Kadowaki, who had eight points each.
Cypress plays at Valencia Friday night while Crean Lutheran plays on Monday vs. Sheldon in the MLK Showcase at St. John Bosco. The Saints are ranked fifth in the CIF Division 1 poll and are out to win their second consecutive Empire League title.
