Century League’s senior baseball team scored three runs in the third inning and went on to defeat the Empire League 4-1 Friday night in the Ryan Lemmon Senior Showcase in Irvine.
The game at Ryan Lemmon Stadium was one of five games over the weekend matching up seniors from Orange County Leagues. It was sponsored by the Ryan Lemmon Foundation.
The Century League team was a combination of players from the Crestview and North Hills League.
The game was scoreless two two nnings but in the top of the third inning, Ryan Osso (El Modena) walked and scored on a double by El Modena teammate Aaron Ceniceros. Pedro Hernandez (Foothill) then singled and went to second on an error.

JT Swain (Brea Olinda) then followed with a two-run single.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Empire League pushed across a run. Daniel Garcia (Cypress) walked, stole second and third and scored on an error.
The Century League added another run in the sixth inning. Nick Aufdemberg (El Modena) singled and eventually came around to score on a groundout by Nathan Estrada (Yorba Linda).
UC Irvine commit Riley Kelly (Tustin) started on the mound for the Empire League pitching two scoreless innings, striking out five and allowing two hits. Johnny Morales (Pacifica), Jimmy Georggin (Crean Lutheran), Hayden Jordan (Tustin), Josh Louie (Valencia) and Emiliano Garcia (Valencia) also pitched an inning for the Empire League.
Josh Pugh (El Dorado) pitched the first two innings for the Century League. Cameron Kessel (Foothill), Bryant Smaaladen (El Modena), Ryan Carter (Brea Olinda), Justin Cabada (Brea Olinda) and Ceniceros pitched one inning each..
In the other game Friday, the Golden West League defeated the Freeway League 3-1.
