Pacifica Christian High School’s boys basketball team clinched the San Joaquin title Thursday night, defeating Capo Valley Christian 56-45 at Capo Valley Christian.
The Tritons (20-6, 8-1) now prepare for the start of the CIF playoffs next week. Pacifica Christian, coached by Jeff Berokoff, was third in this week’s CIF 2A poll.
The squad went on a five-game winning streak, beating all league opponents including San Gabriel Academy, Orangewood Academy, Fairmont Prep and Capistrano Valley Christian twice.
It’s the first time the Tritons have been solo league champions, dating back to the 2019-2020 season when they were co-league champions.
