IRVINE 8, NEWPORT HARBOR 3: Irvine (3-1) earned a non-league win Wednesday. Drake Brito pitched four innings, allowing two hits, no earned runs and struck out five to earn the win. Roshan Patel pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and two runs while striking out one. Cole Riedel and Brandon Figueroa finished up on the mound for Irvine.
Offensively, Evan Tamayo was 1 for 3 with two runs scored, Adam Valencia was 2 for 3 with a walk, four RBI and two runs scored, Owen Featherston was 1 for 3 with two RBI, Smith Spivey was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Hudson Hall 1 for 1 with a run scored.
Irvine plays at Segerstrom Friday afternoon.
