OC boys and girls basketball highlights and scores for Thursday, Dec. 28

Boys basketball

DAMIEN CLASSIC

Crean Lutheran 72, Curtis (Wash.) 47: Kaiden Bailey scored 30 points to lead the Saints. Jacob Majok and Milanas Lukas added 12 points each for Crean Lutheran (6-6). Crean Lutheran faces Etiwanda Friday at 11 a.m. at Damien High School.

Inderkum 69, Foothill 48: Foothill was led by Kai Nixon, who had 11 points and Travis Paleo who had 10 points. Isaiah Bernard had eight points and five rebounds for Foothill.

Murrieta 60, Northwood 47: The Timberwolves (11-5) lost in the semifinals in their division Thursday. Zaid Yunis scored 15 points and Ryan Abaye had 13 points and four assists. Murrieta (16-1) moves on to the finals Friday.

LAS VEGAS PREP HOLIDAY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Cypress 71, Centennial 59: The Centurions advanced to the championship game on Friday with a semifinal win. Cypress built a 30-point lead in the game.

“We came here to play high level competition with the  hopes of winning a championship,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell. “We have one more game to go, and hopefully we have a great drive back to California.”

Cypress was led by Kingston Birdsong, who had 21 points and four 3-pointers and Michael Wright, who had 20 points. Ryan Gov added 15 points for Cypress.

Rancho (Nev) 77, Sunny Hills 45

ESTANCIA COAST CLASSIC

Silver Division

Segerstrom 68, Tarbut V’ Torah 54: The Jaguars (4-10) were led by Gilbert Vargas, who had 28 points and eight 3-pointers. Yonah Light scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for TVT (5-5). Jake Goblentz-Brown had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Graydon Carpet 11 points for the Lions.

Segerstrom will play Los Amigos Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Estancia.

Gold Division

San Clemente 79, Heritage 48: Porter Hansen scored 16 points, Christian Fernandez had 13 points and Davis Blake and Chase Tolliver 11 points each to lead San Clemente.

Woodbridge 48, Laguna Beach 44: Stephan Lamp scored 15 points and made four key free throws down the stretch to lead the Warriors. Jason Briggs added 14 points and Ezra Kim nine points for the Warriors (9-5). Woodbridge wraps up pool play Friday at noon vs. Long Beach Cabrillo.

CAROLINA INVITATIONAL

Newport Harbor 59, Pikeville (Kentucky) 48: The Sailors (14-2) opened the tournament with a win Thursday. Jack Berry scored 20 points and Cole Leinart 11 points for Newport Harbor. Riggs Guy added eight points and 10 rebounds for Newport Harbor.

Beckman 62, Mid Pacific (Hawaii) 55

Cal San Ramon 74, Live Oak 36

LB Wilson 60, Hawaii Baptist Academy 48

Calvary Chapel 52, Mercer Island (Wash.) 44: Jordan Embry scored 19 points and Ben Devries had nine points and made 7 of 8 from the free throw line to lead the Eagles.

Tesoro 54, Mission Viejo 52

Tustin 58, Westmont 43: The Tillers were led by Johnny Villagrana who had 15 points and eight rebounds and Terrelle Morales who had 12 points and eight rebounds. Johnny Sagarino added 10 points. Tustin plays Tesoro in one of the championship semifinals Friday at 7:30 p.m. Los Alamitos faces Calvary Chapel at 6 p.m. in the other semifinal.

The championship is Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

KSA EVENTS TOURNAMENT

La Habra 51, Bentonville (Ariz.) 50: The Highlanders advance into the championship game on Friday. Grayson Sinek led all scorers with 26 points. Jaedon Anderson had 13 points and six rebounds.

DESERT HOLIDAY CLASSIC

Corona del Mark 65, Sage Creek 36: Nick Salmon scored 21 points to lead the Sea Kings in the Aspen Mills Division.

Aliso Niguel 87, Twentynine Palms 49: Noah Shidad led Aliso Niguel (13-3) with 23 points in the Design Pro Division. Jay Keys added 21 points for the Wolverines.

TORREY PINES HOLIDAY CLASSIC

Santa Margarita 75, Waxahachie (Texas) 59: Demarco Johnson scored 16 points and had three assists, Cameron McNamee scored 15 points and Brayden Kyman scored 15 points to lead the Eagles (11-4).

Faith Family (Texas) 60, JSerra 42: JSerra (13-1) suffered its first loss of the season. Sebastian Rancik had 18 points and Aidan Fowler 16 points to lead the Lions.

Girls basketball

PATRIOT CLASSIC

Portola 69, Patriot 17: Kira Watanabe had 27 points to lead Portola (13-2). Vianna Pineda had 13 points and Taylor Takeda eight points for Portola.

SAN DIEGO PREP HOLIDAY CLASSIC

Canyon 49, El Capitan 33: The Comanches were led by Justine Prajitno, who had 15 points and EV Roach, who had 14 points.

Woodbridge 49, Carlsbad 38: Woodbridge was led by Hana Watanabe, who had 19 points and Milan Heisdorf, who had 10 points.
