Boys basketball

PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE TOURNAMENT

Portola 93, University 89: Portola (8-19, 4-5) won a fast-paced, back-and-forth game at home over University (7-19, 1-8). Brady Kim led the Bulldogs with 20 points and three 3-pointers. Emmett Lo added 18 points, Krishna Gade 15 points and off the bench Bentley Nguyen had 13 points.

The Trojans hit 17 3-pointers and were led by Shervin Moarrefian with 26 points, six threes and six rebounds. Sophomore Savion Ruth had career highs of 21 points and five threes to go along with six assists and four steals.

Andrew Bogard had 18 points, five rebounds, three blocks and three steals. Center McKay Nelson had 14 points, four threes, 11 rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

Irvine 61, Laguna Hills 47: Irvine (14-13, 5-4) was led by Cooper Stearns, who had 15 points, six rebounds and five assists. Finn Hoffman had 12 points and six rebounds and Taewon Kim 12 points and three rebounds.

GOLDEN WEST LEAGUE

Segerstrom 86, Katella 38: Gilbert Vargas scored 17 points, Heber Quero 16 points and Isaac Camerana 15 points to lead Segerstrom on senior night. Segerstrom (10-17, 6-4) had already clinched a CIF playoff berth.

Godinez 50, Garden Grove 43: The league champion Grizzlies (22-6, 10-0) finished the season undefeated with a win Thursday night. Jaiden Torres had 15 points, Adrian Gonzalez 14 points and Israel Moreno 10 points to lead Godinez.

EMPIRE LEAGUE

Crean Lutheran 65, Tustin 49: CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS AND STORY

Cypress 72, Pacifica 64: The Centurions (21-6, 9-1) won on Thursday to earn a co-league championship with Crean Lutheran. Coach Derek Mitchell’s team now prepares for the CIF playoffs.

TRINITY LEAGUE

JSerra 76, Servite 47: The Lions (24-4, 7-3) were led by Aidan Fowler, who had 20 points and Godschoice Eboigbodin who had 12 points.

Mater Dei 73, Santa Margarita 59: The Monarchs captured the outright Trinity League title. Brandon Benjamin had 23 points and 10 rebounds, Luke Barnett 17 points and five 3-pointers, Owen Verna 11 points and three 3-pointers, Scotty Belnap nine points and Brady Karich six assists and eight rebounds to lead Mater Dei.

DeMarco Johnson and Brayden Kyman had 14 points each, Dallas Washington 11 points and Jonathan Moxie 10 points to lead Santa Margarita.

ACADEMY LEAGUE

Tarbut V’Torah 77, Newport Christian 44: TVT avenged an earlier one-point loss to Newport Christian to capture the league automatic CIF-berth in a league playoff Thursday. Jake Goblentz-Brown led the Lions with 25 points including four 3-pointers and nine rebounds. Yonah Light had 17 points and 13 rebounds while Avi Varon added 15 points. Graydon Carpet had a season high 12 assists.

Girls basketball

PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE

Portola 59, Woodbridge 27: Portola (22-5, 4-2) was led by Kara Niho with 15 points and Nina Saiki with 14 points.

EMPIRE LEAGUE

Crean Lutheran 57, Tustin 34: Crean Lutheran, which clinched the league title Tuesday, finished undefeated in league play, 10-0, with a win Thursday night at Tustin.

NORTH HILLS LEAGUE

Canyon 65, Foothill 36: Canyon (17-11) was led by Sofi Majidi who had 18 points and made five 3-pointers. Justine Prajitno had 18 points, Jasmine Prajitno 12 points and Everett Roach 11 points. Foothill (5-21) was led by Lynn Morishita who had 10 points.
