NORTHWOOD 7, BECKMAN 2: Coach Doug Euper’s Timberwolves defeated league-leading Beckman Tuesday at Northwood.
Northwood (2-8, 2-4) got strong pitching performances from winning pitcher Paul Grossman, who threw four innings, giving up three hits and no earned runs and striking out four and Andres Hernandez, who threw three innings in relief to pick up the save.
Adam Harper went 3 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI, Jon Cilderman, who went 3 for 3 with three RBI and Mike Lopez, who went 2 for 3 with two RBI.
Beckman (7-2, 5-1) dropped into a tie for first place in the PCL with Woodbridge.
PACIFICA 6, EL MODENA 2: The Mariners improved their record to 9-3 overall with a victory Tuesday. Chad Gurnea got the win, allowing two hits in 6 2/3 innings and striking out six. Aiden Marquez was 1 for 2 with an RBI for Pacifica.
ORANGE LUTHERAN 12, SERVITE 1: The Lancers, top ranked in Division 1, notched a Trinity League victory Tuesday. Orange Lutheran, which had 12 hits, was led by Mikey Romero and Bryan Martinez, who had two RBI each. Casey Borba had a home run and Karson Brown and Daniel Curiel each had two hits.
Olvier Santos pitched five inninngs and struck out five for Orange Lutheran (8-1).
WOODBRIDGE 5, LAGUNA HILLS 4: The Warriors (8-4, 5-1) celebrated another walk-off win in a Pacific Coast League game at Ryan Lemmon Stadium. Matt Kuromoto pitched a complete game, striking out three and Chase Quezada, Kuromoto and Sean McCance had two hits each. McCance had the game winning hit for Woodbridge, driving in Quezada.
Woodbridge moved into a tie for first place with Beckman, which lost to Northwood Tuesday.
IRVINE 7, PORTOLA 1: The Vaqueros (3-8, 3-3) won their third game in a row with a PCL victory over Portola. Sawyer Spivey, Tate Zimmerman, Taylor Skelley and Logan Villaneuva combined to hold Portola to a run.
Bryan Wilhelm was 1 for 3 with two RBI, Caden Shaffer was 1 for 2 with a run scored, Matthew Kim was 1 for 2 with two runs scored and an RBI and Henry Jeong was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
NEWPORT HARBOR 5, CANYON 0: The Sailors (8-2) won a nonleague game at Angel Stadium. Bryce Blaser was 1 for 3 with a home run, AJ Guitron-Moore was 2 for 3 and Trent Liolios was 1 for 3 with a triple and two RBI to lead Newport Harbor. Nick Ragatz, who pitched two scoreless innings, got the win.
COSTA MESA 7, CALVARY CHAPEL 0: The Mustangs (7-4, 1-2) captured an Orange Coast League victory. Jacob Allen, who pitched the first six innings, got the win allowing two hits and striking out six and no earned runs. Chris Hall was 2 for 2 with two doubles and an RBI, Jordan Stucki was 1 for 3 with two RBI and Matt Anderson was 2 for 4 with a double, triple and two RBI.
ESTANCIA 5, ORANGE 3: The Eagles (12-1, 1-1) won an Orange Coast League game Tuesday. Trevor Scott, who piutched the first six innings, got the victory. He allowed five hits and struck out six.
Andrew Coyotzi was 2 for 4 with a RBI and a triple, Andrew Mits was 3 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI, Jack Moyer was 1 for 3 with a run scored and Trevor Scott was 1 for 3 with two runs scored.
