Cypress, Capo Valley Christian, Northwood and Newport Harbor notch wins

Northwood’s boys basketball team opened the Godinez Grizzly Invitational defeating Loara 63-28 Monday night.

Shandon Sharifi scored 17 points and made three 3-pointers and Amit Flint had 13 points and three 3-pointers for Northwood (1-2). Robert Ross and Emon Farsoni had eight points each for the Timberwolves.

Newport Harbor 73, Savanna 29: Newport Harbor (4-1) won a pool play game Monday at the Grizzly Invitational. Gianni Pasero had nine points and Luke Bashore Luke Barnes had eight points each. Barnes also had seven assists.

Capo Valley Christian 59, University 57: Luke Powell had 22 points and Bence Duka 16 points and 15 rebounds to lead CVC.

Cypress 73, Pioneer 64: Eddie Spencer scored 21 points and made three 3-pointers, Christian Chai had 19 points and three 3-pointers and Kai Nagano had 12 points to lead Cypress (1-2) in the opening round of the Buena Park Tournament.

Foothill 41, Dana Hills 34: Foothill improved its record to 4-2 overall with a victory at the Godinez Grizzly Invitational.

Century 66, Western 44: Rodrigo Ramirez scored 22 points, Eduard Sorto had 15 points and Luis Moran 10 points to lead Century.
