MATER DEI 71, CAPO VALLEY CHRISTIAN 47: Wilhelm Breindenbach scored 21 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had four assists to lead the Monarchs (22-0) to a victory in the opening night of the Mater Dei Extravaganza.
Harrison Hornery had 18 points and grabbed six rebounds and Nick Davidson had 15 points and 14 rebounds for Mater Dei.
The Monarchs continue play Saturday in the Nike event, facing St. Augustine at 7:30 p.m.
FOOTHILL 67, CANYON 60: The Knights (5-1 in league) were led by Cruz Billings, who had 15 points; Colin Holt, who had 14 points and Jake Horton who had 12 points.
SAN JUAN HILLS 59, ALISO NIGUEL 42: Phillip DeGree scored 16 points and Ryan Little and Jacob Simon 12 points each to lead the Stallions.
CYPRESS 76, KENNEDY 42: It was senior night for Cypress. “All the seniors were able to score,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell.
Alex Guttierrez led the Centurions with 13 points and three, 3-pointers. KV Singh contributed 10 points and Dylan Higa had eight points.
Cypress (8-4, 6-1) faces Crean Lutheran Monday at 6 p.m. at Crean Lutheran in a battle for first place. Crean Lutheran leads the league and plays Valencia Saturday night. Cypress needs to win in order to share the title with the Saints.
TROY 64, FULLERTON 48: Troy was led by Kyle Phan, who scored 33 points. David Ballesteros and Raayan Khan added nine points each for the Warriors, 5-3 in league.
CREAN LUTHERAN 66, JSERRA 60: The Saints improved their record to 10-2 overall with the win in the Mater Dei Extravaganza. Koat Keat had 18 points and 14 rebounds and three assists to lead Crean Lutheran. Parker Tuttle scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, Michael Birket scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds and James Agany scored seven points, grabbed 14 rebounds and had three assists and a block.
YORBA LINDA 70, ESPERANZA 67: The Mustangs (5-9, 3-1) were led by Jason Casacchia, who scored 22 points and Luke Ishikawa, who had 10 points. Brady Francis scored 18 points and Jack Peyton scored 17 points for Esperanza (7-9, 3-2).
SAN CLEMENTE 61, MISSION VIEJO 55: Tyler Nemeth scored 20 points and Ashley Gardner 13 points to lead the Tritons.
