Loara defeats Irvine 65-53 in 7th place game at Lodinez Tourney; Newport Harbor wins

Loara’s boys basketball team captured a 65-53 victory over Irvine Saturday in the seventh place game at the Lodinez Tournament at Loara.

The Saxons (2-11) were led by senior Dakota Nanthavongdoungsy with 21 points, seven assists and nine rebounds. Senior Nick Nguyen had 21 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Saxons.

Loara will play El Segundo Monday in the first round of the Anaheim Tournament.

Newport Harbor 64, Sage Hill 40: Robbie Spooner scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Sailors (11-3). Nick Silva added 13 points.
