Keana Pola of Godinez named MVP of Golden West League after leading team to CIF title

Godinez High’s senior shortstop Keana Pola, who led the Grizzlies to their first CIF softball championship, has been named the MVP of the Golden West League.

Pola, who is headed to Nebraska next year, helped the Grizzlies defeat El Segundo 15-1 in the Division 4 championship game for the first CIF softball title by a Santa Ana Unified School District team.

Godinez junior pitcher Natalie Carlos was named the league’s pitcher of the year and freshman pitcher/shortstop Rebeca Cabeza was named rookie of the year.

Godinez players named to the first team were sophomore second baseman Savannah Pola, senior catcher Iyari Ramirez, senior pitcher Airlin Ramirez and senior first baseman Samantha Villanueva.

Segerstrom, which also advanced to the playoffs and notched a wild card win, was represented on the first team by junior catcher Viviana Cabezas, senior outfielder Liliana Navarro and senior second baseman Alexendra Molina.

Ocean View was represented by junior third baseman Haley Hoskin and junior outifelder Ariana Hencke.

Westminster’s first team players were sophomore pitcher Leeanne Miranda and senior center fielder Jasmine Vasquez.

First team players from Garden Grove were senior shortstop Alyssa Yslas and freshman second baseman/outfielder Jessica Muniz.

Western was represented on the first team by senior shortstop Jaqlynn Nester.
