Godinez pausing indoor athletics forcing postponement of two basketball games; makeup games planned for OC teams

All indoor athletics at Godinez High School are being put on pause due to COVID-19 protocol, Athletic Director Bill Snyder said Thursday.

The pause includes girls and boys basketball and wrestling.

The girls and boys basketball games scheduled with Segerstrom Friday night at Segerstrom have been postponed and rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 1.

Snyder said school officials will be “re-evaluating on Tuesday next week.”

Snyder said the decision was made after weekly testing resulted in positive cases among athletes and staff.

The decision comes a day after CIF officials announced the regular season for winter sports would be extended until Sunday, Feb. 6.

Also Thursday, Crean Lutheran coach Nate Klitzing said Friday’s Empire League game with Pacifica has been postponed. Crean Lutheran plays at Cypress Thursday night.
