FOOTHILL 2, DAMIEN 1: The Knights captured a victory in the opening round of the National Classic. Andrew Harbour was the winning pitcher. In six innings, he allowed three hits, an earned run and struck out nine. Tyler Hawkins got the save with an inning of relief. He was also 1 for 3 at the plate with a run scored. Ty Cowely was 1 for 3 with an RBI.
VILLA PARK 12, JORDAN, UTAH 1: The Spartans notched a win Monday at the National Classic. Andrew Grove recorded the victory, pitching five innings allowing one hit and striking out five. Gavin Grahovac was 1 for 4 with two runs scored, a home run and four RBI; Zach Brown was 1 for 2 with a run scored, home run and two RBI, AJ Krodel was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Josh Santangelo was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI; and Jake Starr 2 for 3 with with three runs scored and an RBI.
SERVITE 4, SOUTH HILLS 3 (10 innings): Kyle Buchanon, who was 2 for 5, had an RBI single in the 10th inning to win the game for Servite (9-8). Jaden Mackowiak was the winning pitcher. Roman Martin had a home run for Servite and Luke Wilson was 4 for 4 with a walk and two stolen bases.
TUSTIN 5, ST. MARGARET’S 2: The Tillers were led offensively by Elijah Smith, Nyte Teeter, who Jack Crain and Matt Bach, who were all 2 for 3. Nathan Walvraven pitched 4 1/3 innings to get the win for Tustin, which had nine hits in the non-league game.
