FOOTBALL WRAP-UP: Dana Hills, Bolsa, Ocean View, Laguna Hills and Brea Olinda capture wins

Dana Hills 31, University 7

Dana Hills came from behind breaking open a close game with 12 seconds to go in the first half on a 67-yard pick six by senior Deacon Hill in a non-league game at Uni. Dana Hills increased the lead to 14-7 with a two-point conversion pass from Myles Van Wyhe to Charlie Eckl.

Hill, a linebacker, running back and kicker, was the proverbial one man wrecking crew responsible for 23 of Dana Hills’ 31 points. He kicked field goals for in the first, second and fourth quarters and added a 5-yard TD run, two extra points and another interception in the fourth quarter.

For Uni, junior defensive back Damari Carter had a pick six; senior running back Jai Williams carried the ball 18 times for 73 yards and senior wide receiver Brooks Beckmann caught three passes for 49 yards.

Bolsa Grande 27, Savanna 21

Quarterback Ethan Nguyen completed 8 of 22 passes for 172 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Matadors, coached by Michael Acosta. Nguyen also rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown. Eddie Zarate had two catches for 61 yards and a touchdown and Rudy Carrillo three catches for 23 yards.

Ocean View 45, NuView Bridge 12

The Seahawks won their opener under Coach Daniel Hernandez Friday at Ocean View.

Running back Angel Adame had 180 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns for the Seahawks. Quarterback Frankie Armenta had three TD passes and one rushing TD. Receiver Ivan Ortiz had a 25- yard receiving TD and Oswaldo Lozano a 35-yard receiving TD.

Laguna Hills 31, Aliso Niguel 13

Laguna Hills, defending CIF champion, was led by Ben Trocchio who completed 12 of 14 passes for 175 yards. Reese Burnham had three catches for 57 yards, Jake Minotta also had three catches for 57 yards, according to Coach John Lester.

Ryan McKevitt had 16 rushes for 160 yards, Ryan McKevitt had a 69-yard TD run, Minotta a 39-yard TD catch.

On defense, Lance Tayco had four tackles one sack and caused a fumble and Will Hoss had three tackles, one sack and two pass break-ups.

Brea Olinda 28, Westminster 26

The Wildcats held on for a victory in the season opener at home Friday night. Quarterback Cullen Doyle led the way throwing for 269 yards and three touchdowns.

Elijah Sanchez had 125 receiving yards and a touchdown; Isaak Rivas-Melendez  had 97 yards and a touchdown and Rene Gonzalez 38 yards and a touchdown.

Nathan Aceves rushed for 130 yards for Brea Olinda.
