Quarterback Marc Filia is back to lead the Irvine offense.
High school football season is coming fast and OC Sports Zone is getting ready by taking a look at some of the top players around.
We begin with a look at the top returning players from Irvine High. Other teams from Irvine and Tustin will be featured during the next week.

BRYCE TANIKAWA, WR/CB: He had 41 receptions for 632 yards and five touchdowns last year. He also had 18 kick-off returns for 457 yards and a 35-yard punting average. “He is probably our best all around athlete,” said Coach Erik Terry. “Bryce is dangerous on offense and in the kick return game and has the ability to score every time he touches the ball.”
MARC FILIA, QB: had 176 completions for 2,367 yards and 17 passing touchdowns last year. Rushed for four touchdowns. “He has the mental and physical ability to break a lot of Irvine High records,” said Coach Erik Terry.
CORY BAUTISTA, RB/LB: He had 99 carries for 418 yards and 22 receptions for 235 yards and six touchdowns last year. On defense, he had 73 tackles and five tackles for a loss. “This will be Cory’s fourth year on the varsity and he has improved every year,” said Coach Erik Terry. “He should be one of the best defensive players in the league.”
DANY FRUKACZ, SS/RB: He had 51 tackles and three passes broken up last year. “He is one of the hardest working and smartest guys in our program,” said Coach Erik Terry. “He was slowed down by a knee injury last year but still came back and anchored our secondary at strong safety.”
ANTHONY RAMIREZ, OL/LB: “He is the leader of our offensive line and the quiet strength of our team,” said Coach Erik Terry. “Anthony is what team is all about: selfless, committed, accountable.”
