Estancia’s baseball team is moving on to the quarterfinal round of the CIF Division 5 playoffs to meet top-seeded Pasadena Poly Friday at 3:15 p.m. at Estancia.
Coach Kevin Conlin’s Eagles (18-10) advanced with a 1-0 victory over Oxford Academy on Tuesday afternoon in a second round game at Estancia.
Hayden Pearce scored on a bases loaded walk with two outs in the 15th for the Eagles. Pearce walked and Nick Peralez and Troy Huber each singled to load the bases. Jake Covey came through with the RBI to drive in the winning run.
Dillon Manchester got the victory for Estancia, pitching 3 1/3 innings to record his first win of the season.
Justin Wood started for Estancia pitching five scoreless innings. Covey came in to pitched 6 2/3 innings before Manchester closed it out.
Estancia, the Orange Coast League champion, now prepares for Poly (17-3). The winner of Friday’s game moves on to face the winner of the Rancho Verde-Rialto game in the semifinals on Tuesday.
