After suffering a one-point loss to Westminster Monday night, Cypress High’s boys basketball team bounced back Tuesday to defeat Southlands Christian 71-44 in the Bellflower Tournament.
Eddie Spencer scored 24 points and made five 3-pointers to lead the Centurions. Elijah Vaielua had 15 points, 14 rebounds and three blocked shots and Christian Chai had six points and eight assists.
Cypress (4-3) plays Blair High Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Bellflower Tournament.
El Dorado 52, Woodbridge 47: The Golden Hawks defeated the Warriors in a pool play game at the Gary Raya So Cal Elite Classic at Woodridge. Eli Hill scored 11 points for Woodbridge (0-8). Ryan Mounce’s El Dorado team (6-3) was led by Jake Duthoy (18 points) and Dane Kiefer (16 points).
Newport Harbor 51, Trabuco Hills 39: The Sailors won in pool play Tuesday night in the St. Margaret’s tourney 51-39. Newport Harbor (8-2) was led by by Robbie Spooner with 16 points and Ryan Miller with 12 points.
Foothill 59, Katella 38: The Knights won the non-league game at home. Foothill (6-5) was led by Jacob Horton with 16 points and Braedyn Benhard with 13 points and seven rebounds.
