Yorba Linda’s boys basketball team opened the Gary Raya So Cal Elite Tournament Tuesday night with a 61-57 overtime victory over Northwood at Portola.
The Mustangs (7-2) were led by Ayaan Ismail, who scored 11 points. Omair Memon and Cory Knutson scored 10 points each for Yorba Linda, which held a 23-22 halftime lead. Memon set a school record with 18 points for the Mustangs.
Yorba Linda outscored Northwood 8-4 in the overtime period.
Northwood (2-6) was led by Amit Flint with 25 points and Shandon Sharifi with 15 points.
