Crean Lutheran’s girls basketball team captured the championship at the Tri-City Holiday Tournament, defeating Sage Ridge, Nev. 57-22 Thursday afternoon.
It marked the second year in a row the Saints won the tourney title.
Senior guard Emily Reed led the Saints, earning MVP honors. She scored 23 points. Freshman guard Jane Hewitt, who had 16 points, was named to the all-tournament team.
Freshman Jordyn Norwood scored six points and made two 3-pointers for Crean Lutheran which was missing some players with illness, according to co-head coach Bianca Ziemann.
“This was the second time this season that we were entering into a tournament without a full team,” Ziemann said.
“Every player had a highlight moment in the four games played and every one of our players got better. We are blessed and thankful to have played in the Tri-City Tournament and to come out a champion is so awesome.”
