ESTANCIA 7, TARBUT V’ TORAH 1: The No. 2-seeded Eagles opened the Division 6 playoffs with a victory at home. Andrew Mits (8-4) pitched a complete game, allowing no earned runs and one hit while striking out nine for Estancia (24-5).
Jack Moyer was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI, Myles Moyer was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and James De La O was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Estancia will host AB Miller of Fontana Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. in the second round.
El MODENA 4, ADELANTO 0: The Vanguards captured a CIF Division 4 playoff opener Thursday. Bryant Smaaladen had a complete game, striking out seven and allowing three hits for the Vanguards (20-9). El Modena meets La Salle on Tuesday.
TESORO 16, DON LUGO 5: The Titans opened the CIF Division 4 playoffs with a victory. Kevin McCafferey was 3 for 4 with a double, four RBI and a run scored, Hunter Sablatura was 3 for 3 with three runs scored, Jackson Freeman was 2 for 4 with a home run, five RBI and two runs scored and Brandon Woolley was 2 for 3 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored. Tesoro faces Culver City on the road Tuesday.
FULLERTON 7, ST. MARGARET’S 2: Kyle Kim got the victory, pitching five innings and allowing no runs and striking out four to lead the Indians (21-7) in a CIF Division 4 opener. Conor Sunderland hit a home run and had three RBI and Nate Norman had two hits and scored three runs.
PACIFICA 3, TEMESCAL CANYON 1: The Mariners (20-8) were led by Chad Gurnea, who got the CIF Division 2 playoff victory on the mound. Justin Aguinaga was 1 for 3 with an RBI, Ryland Chastain was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Chad Brown was 1 for 2 with two runs scored.
