Chapman University pitcher Tyler Peck was named the West Region Pitcher of the Year Monday on the American Baseball Coaches Association’s All-Region team.
Sophomore Nick Garcia was named to the first team and senior Jonathan Hernandez took second team honors.
The 2019 pitching staff has been dominant for the Panthers – leading the nation in strikeouts and ranking among the best in ERA. Peck and Garcia both sport sub-2.00 ERAs and more than 12 strikeouts per nine innings to lead that charge.
Hernandez has thrown three complete games with 86 strikeouts in 100-plus innings and a 2.68 ERA.
Peck and Garcia are now up for ABCA All-American honors to be announced at the Opening Ceremonies of the Division III World Series on Thursday.
The Panthers wrapped up the Super Regional title with a 3-2 walk-off win over Concordia University Texas.
