Corona del Mar’s baseball team wrapped up the Ryan Lemmon Invitational Wednesday defeating Valencia 9-4 at the Orange County Great Park.
Sophomore Keller Strauss recorded his first career victory, throwing four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out six.
Carter Haight was 2 for 2 with an RBI. Nick Rottler and Matt DeCroana were both 2 for 3. DeCroana had two RBI and Rottler one RBI.
Luc Stuka was 1 for 3 with a triple and two RBI.
“We have been struggling at the plate the past three games so it was good to see our guys pound out nine runs on 10 hits,” said Coach Kevin McCaffrey. “It was a great way to end the tournament. We were 2-2 in the tournament and move to 14-7-1 on the year.”
CdM will take some time off for spring break and return to action on Saturday, April 13 against Costa Mesa.
McCaffrey said he and his players were appreciative of the effort of Guy Lemmon and Dick Owens at the Ryan Lemmon Foundation.
“Dick and Guy along with the rest of their staff run a top notch tournament,” he said. “Their attention to detail is amazing and they do whatever they can to make this a great week for all the ballplayers. We are so thankful to everyone who helps out with the Ryan Lemmon Foundation. Playing at the Great Park was a treat and we are excited for next year’s tournament.”
