Capistrano Valley Christian’s football team evened its record at 2-2 with a 36-7 victory over Glendale in a nonleague game Thursday night at Capo Valley.

The Eagles’ defense was tough all night and did not allow a score until a late fourth quarter touchdown, according to Coach Rick Curtis.

Pablo Moser and Rome Demongin had interceptions to lead the Eagles defense.

“The defensive line of Hunter Long, Cole Flynn, Josh Sears, and Noah Olson gave the Glendale offense fits,” Curtis said Friday. “Demongin’s interception was a pick six as he picked off a Glendale swing pass and returned it 48 yards for a touchdown.”

Offensively, Capo Valley Christian was led by quarterback Tyler Henry, running back, Demongin, and wide receiver Simeon Marton.

“The credit however, to last night’s offensive success has to go to the offensive line of Michael Longfellow, Stefan Purgason, Sears, Flynn, and tight end Dylen Roberts,” Curtis said.

“The offensive line picked up the Nitros stunting defense and gave Henry time to throw, while also opening up sizable holes for the running game.”

Henry completed 8 of 13 passes for 116 yards, with two touchdown passes and no interceptions.

Henry also scampered for a 29-yard touchdown on a quarterback draw play on the first play of the second quarter to give the Eagles a 14-0 lead.

Demongin rushed for 97 yards on just 12 carries and had another rushing touchdown, according to Curtis.

Marton had five catches for 71 yards and two touchdowns receptions to help the Eagles extend their lead to 29-0 at halftime.

“Kaden Manrique and Roberts continued to improve and in providing additional targets for Henry to throw to,” Curtis said. “Each hauled in two passes; Manrique for 23 yards, and Roberts for 28 yards to keep Eagle drives alive.”
