A number of Orange County teams earned top seeds in the CIF boys volleyball playoffs that begin this week.
CIF officials said there are 193 teams competing in six divisions. Wild card matches begin on Tuesday. The championships will be on Saturday, May 14 at Long Beach City College or designated host sites.
In Divison 1, Mission League champion Loyola is seeded first, Trinity League champion Mater Dei is second, Surf League champion Newport Harbor third and Beckman fourth. Beckman won its third consecutive Pacific Coast League title and captured the title at the Redondo Tournament last weekend.
Servite, the Trinity League runner-up, is seeded first in Division 2. Mission Viejo is seeded third and Aliso Niguel fourth in Division 3.
In Division 4, all four teams are from Orange County. Capistrano Valley Christian is first, Northwood second, St. Margaret’s third and Portola fourth. Northwood was the Pacific Coast League runner-up and Portola was the number three finisher.
In Division 5, Sunny Hills is second and Troy fourth and in Division 6, Orange Coast League runner-up Saddleback is seeded first.
Matches are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. unless another time is agreed to by the two schools. First round matches are Thursday, April 28.
