TESORO 73, UNIVERSITY 33: The Titans (8-0 overall) wrapped up a perfect week with a victory over the Trojans Saturday morning at the Mariko Memorial Classic. Tesoro had a team high 24 assists with five players recording four assists each.
Jack Bennett scored 17 points and had 16 rebounds, Carson Brown had 21 points, Blake Manning scored 13 and Kyle Gleason had 11 points and nine rebounds. University dropped to 5-5 overall.
TRABUCO HILLS 62, HUNTINGTON BEACH 56: The Mustangs improved their record to 6-4 overall with a win at the Mariko Classic. Caden Wright had 16 points and made four 3-pointers, Jack Warnick had 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists and Jordan Nguyen had eight points and five assists.
SUNNY HILLS 67, GARDEN GROVE 45: The Lancers captured the title at the Los Amigos Winter Classic. Dylan Lawson scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds, Johann Kwon had 11 points and four rebounds and Chad Nguyen had 12 points and five rebounds for the Lancers (6-3).
CYPRESS 69, BONITA VISTA 47: Cypress got a victory in the Sonora Tournament Friday. “We were able to make shots today vs Bonita Vista,” said Cypress coach Derek Mitchell.
Kody Papke scored 20 points and made three 3-pointers, Mickey Kadawaki scored 19 points and made four 3-pointers and Jonah Kim had 12 points and five assists for the Centurions (2-5).
“It was good to finally make some shots. We have really been struggling to put points in the board,” Mitchell said. “The law of averages balanced out a little today. Mickey and Kody did good job of finding the open area and shooting with confidence.”
COSTA MESA 62, WESTERN 27: The Mustangs (3-6) finished off the Loara Tournament with back to back wins. Christian Dasca scored 14 points and had four steals and three assists while Aiden Spallone had eight points, seven rebounds and five steals.
