Mater Dei High School’s 2021 football schedule has been finalized with the opener of the abbreviated five-game schedule on Friday, March 19 vs. JSerra, according to Athletic Director Amanda Waters.
Orange County squads were given the go-ahead last week for the spring schedules. No CIF playoffs will be held this year.
The Monarchs have a scrimmage planned for Friday, March 12 vs. El Camino of Oceanside at Mater Dei with the time to be determined, Waters said.
Two of Mater Dei’s games will be carried on Fox Sports: the Friday, March 19 opener against Trinity League rival JSerra at JSerra and the Saturday, April 17 contest against league rival St. John Bosco at the Santa Ana Bowl.
Under the latest guidelines from the California Department of Public Health and the CIF, attendance is limited to immediate fans only.
“Two fans per athlete, that is all we have secured at this point,” Waters said. “Lots to work out.”
