All Crean Lutheran High School sports teams will be allowed to begin training on Tuesday, Sept. 8, according to Karen Worthington, director of marketing for Crean Lutheran.
“The Athletic Department personnel and coaches are excited to announce participation in athletic activities,” school officials said in a statement. “Athletes are invited to practice with their teammates and continue to train in the Strength and Conditioning Center.
“Crean Lutheran’s Health and Safety protocols will be followed. It is important for our entire community to remain confident and united in Christ.”
It will be up to each coach to come up with a plan for sports training, Worthington added.
Parents of Crean Lutheran athletes were informed of the decision Friday and a list of required safety protocols were included in an Email.
Crean Lutheran will also welcome a small group of freshmen to campus on Monday, Sept. 3. Principal Daniel Moyer said he anticpates no more than 96 freshmen to be on campus and that numerous safety protocols and precautions will be followed. The remainder of the student body will continue with on-line schooling.
More information about the athletic plan is available on the school’s website along with the protocols, including social distancing, that athletes and coaches will be required to follow.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, CIF officials moved the tentative starting date of most fall sports to December 2020 with football scheduled to start on Jan. 8, 2021. Local and state health officials will need to give final approval for the seasons to occur as scheduled.
