Tesoro’s boys basketball team wrapped up the Hillcrest Tournament Saturday with a 67-57 victory over ML King of Riverside. Matt DeAngelo scored 26 points, Kaden Garrett had 11 points and Chris Allen 11 for the Titans.
Tesoro led 29-28 at halftime before ML King closed the gap to 53-52. However, Tesoro finished the game with a 15-4 run to seal the victory.
DeAngelo and Garrett were named first team all-tournament..
Beckman 66, Sunny Hills 54: Beckman outscored Sunny Hills 19-8 in the fourth quarter to capture the victory at the Rumble For Rosecrans Avenue Tournament at Sunny Hills. Jake Morrison scored 15 points and Ethan Bozzo had 12 points to lead the Patriots. Beckman plays Corona del Mar next Saturday.
Sonora 77, Damien 74: Sonora won the gold division title at the Rumble for Rosecrans Avenue Tournament at Sunny Hills.
Capo Valley Christian 76, Diamond Bar 52: Capo Valley Christian was led by Luke Powell, who had 29 points, 15 rebounds and four assists. Addison Gbye finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Bence Duka had 12 points and Daniel Powers 11 points.
Capo Valley 50, Trabuco Hills 32: The Cougars improved their record to 4-0 by capturing the championship at the Jim Harris Classic at Ocean View.
Warren 59, Yorba Linda 56: Luke Ishikawa scored 18 points to lead Yorba Linda in the third place game at the Rumble for Rosecrans Avenue Tournament at Sunny Hills. Cory Knutson added 15 points for the Mustangs.
West Torrance 68, Northwood 55: Amit Flint scored 17 points and Shandon Sharifi had 16 points and four three pointers in the Timberwolves opener on Friday night.
Dana Hills 34, Tustin 33: The Dolphins held on to win the tournament championship in Santa Ana. Please click here for the story and photos.
