The Ryan Lemmon Invitational baseball tournament continued on Monday, April 1 at the Orange County Great Park.
Games were in the Great Park baseball stadium and at three adjacent fields in the facility.
It’s the first time that the games have been played in the new complex. In previous years, games were held at Ryan Lemmon Stadium in Irvine.
The tournament is named after Ryan Lemmon, a former standout outfielder for Woodbridge High. Ryan Lemmon, a 1993 Woodbridge graduate, was part of Pepperdine University’s baseball team before transferring to Rancho Santiago College. He died in a car accident while he was attending college. Ryan Lemmon was a high school scholar athlete recipient and an all-county and All-CIF player for Woodbridge.
His father, Guy Lemmon, began the Ryan Lemmon Foundation “as a means to give back to the local baseball fraternity,” according to a story in the tournament program.
The Ryan Lemmon Foundation hosts the Ryan Lemmon Invitational.
Admission to the tournament games is $8. An all-tournament pass is also available for $25.
There is no charge for parking.
“It’s great, it’s our second time here,” said Trabuco Hills Coach Michael Burns. “What a great experience and what a beautiful venue. It’s an awesome experience.”
Trabuco Hills will also be playing Mission Viejo in a doubleheader on Thursday, April 11 at the Great Park beginning at 4:30 p.m.
