CIF officials announced the top four seeds and brackets for this week’s CIF boys basketball playoffs Sunday and Orange County squads are included.
There will be 296 teams competing in 10 divisions, officials said. Wild card games will be Tuesday, Feb. 6 and first round contests on Wednesday, Feb. 7. The open division, which has a pool play format, begins on Friday, Nov. 9
The finals will be Friday, Feb. 23 and Saturday, Feb. 24 at Cal Baptist, Azusa Pacifica, Colony and Edison.
Seedings:
In the open division, Trinity League champion Mater Dei is seeded third. Harvard-Westlake is seeded first, Roosevelt second and St. John Bosco fourth. JSerra is also in the open division.
Mater Dei hosts St. Pius Matthias and No. 7 JSerra plays at No. 2 Roosevelt in the opening round Friday.
In Division 1, Notre Dame Sherman Oaks (24-3) is top seeded and will play at Empire League co-champion Crean Lutheran Wednesday. Santa Margarita received an at-large berth.
Empire League co-champion Cypress (21-6) is home Wednesday vs. Beaumont (20-6) in Division 2A.
Crespi is top-seeded in Division 2AA.
Pacifica Christian is second in 2A behind top-seeded Pasadena. Newport Harbor received an at-large berth in the division.
Freeway League champion La Habra (24-4) is top-seeded in Division 3AA. Yorba Linda and Sunny Hills received at-large berths. La Habra hosts Yorba Linda in the opening round Wednesday.
South Coast League champion San Clemente is seeded first in Division 3A and has a bye in the opening round. Northwood, which finished third in the Pacific Coast League, is seeded No. 2 and plays at Quartz Hill (16-11) Wednesday.
PCL champion Woodbridge hosts Rowland (13-11) Wednesday in the opening round of the 3A playoffs Wednesday.
Irvine, making its first CIF playoff appearance in nine years, is seeded third in Division 4A and will play at Midland Wednesday in the opening round. Pacifica received an at-large berth.
Golden West League champion Godinez is seeded No. 3 in Division 5AA. The Grizzlies were undefeated in league play. Godinez will host Marshall Wednesday. Tarbut V’ Torah will play at San Jacinto in the 5AA division opener Wednesday.
Segerstrom is in 4AA and will play at Academy League champion Western Christian Wednesday in the opening round.
