Five TDs! Cameron Goods makes most of his opportunity as Irvine’s primary running back

Irvine High School senior running back Cameron Goods would like to play college football one day.

He made that clear in an interview earlier this year with OC Sports Zone.

Goods went into the season knowing he would be Irvine’s primary running back after sharing the duties in the abbreviated spring season.

He has delivered big-time for the undefeated Vaqueros, who play Beckman Friday night at 7 at Tustin. Goods also scored four touchdowns in a game against Sonora.

Goods’ dominating five-touchdown performance in a 57-0 victory over University Friday night could help the senior’s chances of attracting some attention among college coaches.

“I’m hoping, that’s the goal with this, first of all, win league, go to CIF and do everything with my team,” Goods said. “And second is to play in college, so hopefully I can get my name out there after this game.”

With the help of his blockers (who he made sure to thank) Goods was pretty much unstoppable with 30 points, tying an Irvine record for most points in a game.

Goods took over the game with three rushing touchdowns, one TD catch and a 67-yard punt return for a score. With Irvine having a big lead, he wasn’t used much in the second half but certainly did plenty of damage.

Irvine Coach Tom Ricci said college coaches should definitely take a look.

“I’m hoping colleges out there are taking note because he can move,” Ricci said.
