OC Sports Zone: Community First

Woodbridge, Yorba Linda, Beckman and Trabuco Hills boys basketball teams win

WOODBRIDGE 61, SEGERSTROM 31: Woodbridge opened the season with a non-league victory at Segerstrom Monday night. Coach Steve Scoggin’s team was led by sophomore guard JC Schindler, who had 17 points and senior forward Nygle Williams, who had 15 points. Senior guard Josh Lomboy added 11 points for the Warriors.

Segerstrom was led by Chris Negrete, who had nine points and Shawn Murray, who scored seven points.

YORBA LINDA 65, LASALLE 54: The Mustangs opened the Rumble for Rosecreans Tournament with a victory Monday night.

Jason Casacchia scored 19 points to lead Yorba Linda. Ayaan Ismail added 10 points.

BECKMAN 70, FULLERTON 42: The Patriots opened the season with a victory at the Rumble for Rosecrans Tournament. Dowon Kim scored 16 points. Beckman plays Riverside Poly Tuesday night at 7:30 at Fullerton.

TRABUCO HILLS 52, RANCHO DOMINGUEZ 40: The Mustangs won their opening game at the Ocean View tournament. Nathan Tuttle scored 22 points to lead Trabuco Hills. Jack Warnick had 10 points and six rebounds for the Seahawks.
