Woodbridge softball star Kate Lim has made a verbal commitment to attend and play softball at Stanford University, Warrior Coach Jerry Rose said Wednesday night.

Lim was Division 3 All-CIF as junior. Last year, she batted .438 with 27 runs scored, 27 RBI, 11 home runs and 21 stolen bases. Lim had an on base percentage of .520 and a slugging percentage of .988.

“Kate has has been a 3-year starter in right field for Woodbridge High School,” said Rose. “She is a complete five-tool player. There is not one part of her game that is not elite.

“Most teams know not to run on her and yet she still had nine assists last year from right field. She brings a quiet confidence to the field at practice and games. Kate has a natural ability to always square the ball on her bat. You never see a bad swing, a bad throw or misjudged fly ball.”

Rose said Lim is a very special player.

“Kate is a once in a decade talent at the high school level,” he said. “She is coachable, hard working and always has such a great demeanor on and off the field. Working at the school I get to see both sides of the players and she is the same wonderful person on and off the field.”
