Woodbridge’s girls soccer team put together consecutive Pacific Coast League victories this week as it makes a push to earn a spot in the CIF playoffs.

“We started off our pre-season strong with a 7-0 winning streak,” said Coach Jackie Farber. “We lost momentum for a few games, but now back on track winning our last two league games over Laguna Hills (4-1) and Northwood (3-1).

“(We) just had to tweak our formations a bit and be more patient with the timing and execution of our off the ball movement. Composure on and off the ball has also proven to be our best friend.”

A number of players have stepped up for the Warriors.

“Senior captain Amber Lee (left defender) and senior Jacque Choi (forward) have been our most consistent players this season,” Farber said. “Jacque Choi has been leading our attack and goal scoring every game. Amber Lee takes charge of our back line and is also an incredible leader on and off the field.

“Sophomore Maci Land (right defender/mid) is also another high-performing player for us with strong, tactical defending abilities and phenomenal field IQ. Sophomore Sofia Liphardt (forward/outside mid) is our top newcomer. Very versatile and coachable and able to play anywhere on the field.

“Both Maci and Sofia are two of the most dedicated and hard working players I have ever coached. They always want to get better and will do whatever it takes to perform at the highest level.”
