WOODBRIDGE 5, PORTOLA 2: Pacific Coast League leader Woodbridge completed a three-game sweep over Portola Thursday. The Warriors (18-5, 14-2) have a three-game lead over second place Northwood with two weeks left in the regular season. Matt Kuromoto pitched a complete game, allowing two hits and no earned runs while striking out nine. He now has an ERA of 0.84.
Kuromoto was also 2 for 4 with an RBI and a stolen base. Brandon Abernathy was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI, Jake Amundson was 1 for 2 with a double and a walk, Chase Quezada was 2 for 4 with a run scored and a stolen base and Daniel O’Hanlon was 1 for 3 with a run scored.
The Warriors host Sage Hill in a makeup game Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Ryan Lemmon Stadium.
FOOTHILL 11, DANA HILLS 5: The Knights were led by pitcher Ty Cowley, who recorded the victory. Jake Fenton was 3 for 3 with a run scored, three RBI, a stolen base and a walk; Ezekiel Vargas, who was 1 for 4 with a double, triple, three RBI and a stolen base; Cowley, who was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and Tyler Hawkins, who was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a walk.
Foothill had 13 hits in the game.
COSTA MESA 4, CALVARY CHAPEL 0: The Mustangs recorded an Orange Coast League win Thursday. Will Clark (7-1) was the winning pitcher. He pitched a complete game, striking out five and was 2 for 2 at the plate. Caleb Robeck was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI and Sam Stute 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI for Costa Mesa (17-5, 5-3).
