VILLA PARK 3, CANYON 2 (10 innings): The Spartans (13-2, 4-1) recorded a Crestview League victory Thursday. Brandon Luu pitched outstanding in relief for Villa Park to record the victory. Luu pitched four innings, allowing two hits and struck out seven. Geoff McArthur was 1 for 4 with two RBI and Theo Bovetas had the game-winning RBI.
TESORO 6, EL TOR0 3: The Titans (15-1, 2-0) won the second game of a three-game series Thursday. Joshua Ferry pitched three innings, allowing no earned runs and Justin Simard was 2 for 2 with three RBI to lead the offensive attack.
WOODBRIDGE 3, PORTOLA 2: The Warriors divided the pitching duties in the Pacific Coast League game at Portola. Jake Amundson pitched three innings, allowing two runs and struck out six; Justin Durby pitched 1 2/3 inings, striking out one and Sean McCance pitched 2 1/3 innings striking out three. Brandon Abernathy had two hits and an RBI, Amundson had two hits and Matthew Kuromoto and Dylan Blakely had one hit each. Woodbridge is in second place in the PCL.
NORTHWOOD 5, UNIVERSITY 4: Northwood (7-10, 7-5) battled back from a 4-0 deficit, scoring three runs in the fifth inning and two in the sixth inning in a PCL game at Northwood. Ahmad Kazi went 3 for 3 at the plate and scored two runs. Jon Cilderman threw three hitless innings to pick up the win. Cilderman also went 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI.
University (6-11-1, 4-8) won Wednesday’s game over Northwood 5-4 in nine innings. Northwood is in third place in the league behind Beckman and Woodbridge.
BECKMAN 5, IRVINE 2: The Patriots remained atop the PCL standings with a victory at Beckman.
FINAL: Santa Ana 8, Costa Mesa 6 (8 innings).
