Mike Thompson has resigned as head baseball coach at University High after one season to join the Sage Hill baseball program, according to Uni Athletic Director Tom Shrake.
Thompson wil be the associate head coach/field manager for Sage Hill, according to Sage Hill Coach Dominic Campeau.
“This new position was created when I left the classroom to become Dean of School Life at Sage Hill,” Campeau said. “As field manager, Mike will be in control of what happens on the field. I remain program head (coach), in charge of off the field affairs and will assist Mike during games and practices.”
University has begun a search for a new coach.
“We are actively looking for his replacement and are confident we will find someone that will lead our program and coach our athletes in a manner consistent with the mindset and values of University High School,” Shrake said.
University players were informed of Thompson’s decision this week.
University was 10-16 overall and 5-10 in the PCL last season. Thompson could not be reached for comment.
