UCI’s Collin Welp among players on Big West pre-season all-conference team

Big West Conference officials have announced the men’s basketball pre-season all-conference team selected by the media:

ARINZE CHIDOM, UC RIVERSIDE: The 6-9 senior forward earned All-Big West honorable mention recognition last year and led the team in scoring (11.8 points per game) and rebounding (6.6). 

CHANCE HUNTER, LONG BEACH STATE: The 6-6 junior guard was an all-conference honorable mention last season. He averaged 13.9 points a 5.0 rebounds while making 41.7 percent of his three-point field goals.

EZRA MANJON, UC DAVIS: The 5-11 sophmore guard was selected to the All-Big West second team. He led all freshmen in scoring and ranked 14th overall (12.1)

JaQUORI McLAUGHLIN, UC SANTA BARBARA: The senior guard  was named All-Big West honorable mention last season. He ranked sixth in the Big West in scoring (13.4 points) and three point field goal percentage (.407).

AMADOU SOW, UC SANTA BARBARA: The 6-9 junior forward received All-Big West second team honors for the second straight season and ranked fourth in the Big West in scoring (14.1) and was No. 2 in rebounding (7.0).

COLLIN WELP, UC IRVINE:  The 6-9 junior forward captured All-Big West first team honors last year and led the team in scoring (13.0). He was ranked second in rebounding (5.9).

UCI was picked by the media to repeat as conference champions.
